Tropical Apples Growing In Uganda
In Uganda, it is not easy for people to eat an appleespecially poor people.There are two reasons;one is that Uganda produces a few of applesand another one is that most of apple fruits are imported from foreign countrieshence making them very expensive.In fact,Uganda can produces apple fruitsof the bestquality of which here is good even an apple tree can be harvested two times ayear.It will be a promising enterprise for farmers to grow apple trees in Uganda.
So many farmerswant to grow apple trees, but most of them have no basic knowledgeabout managing apple trees.I have been here for about two yearsand always do researchon apple trees and train farmers.Now I have got some information about apple managementpractices and challenges in Uganda. I hereby want to share my experience with farmers who want to grow apple trees, extension staff who have to extend apple growing messages and researchers and academicians who may wish to find solutions to major apple growing constraints.
